Global adhesives provider HB Fuller launched the new Flextra Fast SF8700/XR1000 adhesive system, the latest addition to the company’s Flextra Fast laminating adhesives family for flexible packaging converting.
Even for tough applications, such as barrier-to-barrier laminating, the system is said to offer ultra-fast cure time and ultra-fast time to fill safely with food.
Flexible packaging converters can use the new Flextra system to laminate barrier films together faster when compared to conventional solventless adhesive systems, said the company.
HB Fuller North America converting sales director Joe Tuso said the company’s focus is on speed, safety and performance for the flexible packaging industry.
"With the unmatched speed of our new Flextra Fast system, we are bringing new opportunities to converters for faster delivery times and, even more importantly, a critical benefit for their customers to more quickly fill flexible packages safely," Tuso said.
With a capacity to accommodate line speeds up to 1,200 feet per minute (fpm) with 800fpm on barrier-to-barrier laminations, the Flextra Fast product slits in a short span of time.
The product, which also offers peroxyacetic acid (PAA) decay and pouching in less time, is said to be suitable for PET/PE(EVOH), OPA/PE(EVOH), OPA/Alu high barrier systems.
Flextra Fast adhesives can be put to the test on the company’s production-scale Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 laminator together with the complete line of Flextra formulations.
The laminator at HB Fuller’s St Paul, Minnesota, facility in the US can run trials of laminating adhesives that are solvent-based, solvent-free and water-based.
It offers primary and secondary in-line corona treatment and produces cure-laminated rolls as wide as 52 inches.
