Packaging products manufacturer Holfeld Plastics has developed a new recycled polyethylene terephthalate (r-PET) tray for chilled and frozen burgers.

Designed for modified atmosphere packaging, the new 30mm tray is made with up to 85% recyclate in barrier materials APET or APET/PE.

Holfeld operations director Frank Coleman said that the company can manage both short and long-run orders for their products.

"Holfeld works in partnership with its customers and this new burger tray is one of many examples of this close association, listening to the requirements, designing trays that perfectly fit specification and budget," Coleman said.

"This is a distinct advantage in a packaging industry that is driven by and succeeds on large volume orders to a mass market."

Holfeld Plastics has an A-B denest facility which provides palletisation, better use of warehouse space and minimal truck movements.

The company supplies bespoke formings as well as a range of standard trays and containers to customers across Europe in both food and non-food sectors.
