IMT Food Services (IMTFS), an Australia-based food packaging supplier, has announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility at Eagle Farm in Brisbane.
According to the company, construction of the new 2,500m² facility has been completed in less than a year.
The facility has been developed as the company plans to foray into Korea, Russia, Japan and the US, and the old facility located at Murrarie was too small to support their expansion plans.
The facility's production site has three large zones comprising workstations, with each workstation claimed to be measured for efficiency, output and labour usage.
With the new Eagle Farm facility, the company has said it will increase its current manufacturing capacity with a production of more than 200t a week.
Employees from IMTFS's Murrarie facility will be relocated to the new site, which has the capacity to accommodate about 90 people, said a spokesperson for IMT Food Services.
IMTFS managing director Darren Walsh told Food Production Daily that the facility will use a batch process instead of straight line process to make the processing faster and efficient.
