Food packaging company Linpac Packaging has developed a new range of lightweight hinged bakery boxes.
Claimed to be suitable for croissants, Danish pastries, tarts and muffins, the new LeanBake range consists of both hermetic (airtight) and semi-hermetic boxes, which will not compromise on functionality or product protection.
Available in various sizes, the containers, which have a low carbon footprint, have been designed to retain the taste and freshness of the products.
Linpac developed the hermetic boxes expressly for sponge-based products to keep moisture within the pack enabling them to stay fresher for longer.
Three sides of the standard boxes are slightly vented to allow air circulation and ensure that pastry products such as croissants and Danish pastries do not lose their crispiness.
Linpac Packaging European bakery marketing manager Megan Ashcroft said the company’s new range of containers help bakers and manufacturers to minimise their costs and impact on the environment.
"The technical innovation which has gone into their design enables the containers to be lighter than our previous hinged box designs without affecting the pack’s rigidity and protective qualities, ensuring bakery items are not damaged during transit and so that consumers can enjoy their pastry as it was when first bought in-store," Ashcroft said.
According to the company, the LeanBake range has been designed in such a way that the boxes stack easily and unvaryingly to assist in the production process.
The design also ensures that the materials are evenly distributed to maintain quality of the product, as well as the visibility associated with PET.
The corner radius design of the boxes assists with the opening of the packs, which enhances ease of use for the consumer, and their external dimensions have been adapted enabling them to fit on the standard European pallet, the company said.
