Multi-material packaging manufacturer Linpac is set to launch its Freshware packaging range in a bid to take advantage of the growing demand for chilled convenience foods.
According to the UK-based company, the launch of Freshware range marks its entry into a new market for the first time, as the first range from the company’s new Freshform division.
The range will consist of packaging for prepared fruit and salads, dips, sandwich fillers, fresh pasta, pizza, prepared vegetables, chilled bakery goods, cooked meats and prepared fish.
The move into the new market is said to complement Linpac’s existing operations within the meat, fish and poultry, bakery, fresh produce and foodservice sectors.
Linpac innovation and marketing vice president Joanna Stephenson said the company, which already has relationships with key players in the market, will work with its customers to develop new opportunities.
"The chilled retail convenience market is worth €145 billion across Europe and has continued to grow at a steady rate throughout the recession when many other markets have stalled," Stephenson said.
In 2014, the company plans to launch new interlocking containers in various sizes which give consumers the choice to pick and combine different food items to create their meal.
The solution is suitable for mixing salads, pastas, cooked meats or fish, toppings and sauces, and also for creating a complete starter, main and dessert combination.
Linpac will also incorporate its sealant technology into some new Freshware products.
