Italian packaging systems specialist Mariana has purchased CAD Schroer's Factory Layout software and PDC data management environment for design of its 3D packaging line.
The deal comprises the MPDS4 Factory Layout Plus package along with the mechanical handling catalogue for conveyor design, licenses for the PDC engineering content management environment and the 3D Component Designer tool.
Mariana also signed a long-term software support and maintenance contractwhich provides for all software updates and revisions, online and telephone support and individual guidance.
Mariana plans to import 50,000 existing CAD drawings into MPDS4's 2D drafting environment by using the DXF or DWG interface, which will be later managed by CAD Schroer's data management software.
MPDS4 Factory Layout users can start with building layouts in 2D and then switch to 3D to route conveyors and pipes. Users can then return to 2D as required. Individual Mariani 3D machinery models will be incorporated in the layouts through the STEP interface.
Mariani layout manager Marcello Zanella said that flexibility and customer focus are key components of the company's growth.
"CAD Schroer provides the tools and knowledge that allow us to use the software in a way that best suits each customer, and welcomes input into future developments," Zanella added.
"MPDS4 will allow us to work flexibly in 2D or 3D, based on individual customer requirements and the size of each project."
