Medica Packaging, the healthcare packaging arm of Benson Group, has obtained a new leaflet folder for the post-press department of its Crewe factory.
Developed by Horizon, the AF406T6A Digital Folder is capable of 'intelligent automation' and offers flexibility with a six-plus-six buckle fold configuration.
Medica Packaging Operations manager Tim Standing said that the AF406T6A will create extra capacity, giving the company's sales force an opportunity to grow their current leaflet production business.
"We believe this folding technology will be the future within the pharmaceutical leaflet sector," he said.
"The machine could accommodate the wide variety of sizes going from standard to miniature, with a super quick changeover time when moving from job to job."
Medica tested the equipment at its showroom in Germany before deploying it for the factory. The company claims it minimises paper waste and energy consumption.
The equipment's steel and polyurethane combination rollers allow for easy adjustment of the roller gap pressure and can achieve folds of up to 20mm.
UK-based printed folding carton supplier Benson Group produces packaging products for the food, retail and healthcare industries for customers across Europe.
