MP Global Products' ThermoPod division has announced the launch of its new ThermoPod super-insulated temperature-controlled packaging products for shipment of spices and spice mixes.
According to the US-based company, the new eco-friendly protective ThermoPod mailers are made with components that break down in nature safely.
The mailer envelopes, which provide better thermal protection for extended time frame shipping of the products, serve as green alternatives to plastic bubble envelopes and foam coolers.
The outer surface of the ThermoPod is a waterproof poly film, while the inner surface is a perforated poly film, and between both the films a proprietary ultra-insulating padding is inserted.
Made from a combination of purified, flocked and bonded cotton and wool recycled textile fibres, the insulation also includes an anti-microbial additive, which has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The additive is used for cross-contamination prevention and absorbent fibres for containment of accidental spills or unwanted condensation from melting gel packs.
The mailer is disposable with ordinary trash, while an additive hastens biodegradation in a landfill environment for more than a year, depending upon conditions and when in presence of microorganisms.
MP Global claims that the bottom gusseted design of the mailers allows for increased content space while using a smaller dimensional weight, compared to traditional plastic bubble envelopes.
The ThermoPod mailers are available in three standard sizes: 9in x 11in, 12in x 14in and 14in x 18in.
