NJM Packaging has unveiled a new reduced-cost labeller which can apply vertical and horizontal labels to cases, cartons, bags and shrink-wrapped bundles at speeds of up to 60 per minute.

The new Model 402 Final Touch Print & Apply Labeler has a smaller carbon footprint, cuts down maintenance and eases installation.

The labeller is capable of applying labels from 0.625 to 4.5 inches wide, with an option to apply labels up to 7.1 inches wide, depending on the printer. It applies side labels, corner wrap labels and top labels using either a tamp or wipe-on applicator.

When equipped with a tamp applicator, the labeller can be oriented to consume only 22 inches along the conveyor, and consumes close to 30 inches along the conveyor when fitted with a wipe-on applicator.

NJM claims the labeller is suitable for foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, household chemicals and other packaged products. It can switch between different bundle sizes and labels within a short timespan without the need for tools.

It can also be equipped for e-pedigree serialisation, RFID tagging and other track-and-trace initiatives. When designed for e-pedigree serialisation, the labeller affixes serialised 2D bar codes or RFID labels on cases or bundles. It captures the serialied codes and makes the data available to the vision system and the e-pedigree software through an ethernet connection.

NJM has been designing packaging systems for 100 years.
