US-based Ossid has launched a new weigh-price labeller for food packaging applications including meat, poultry, dairy products, seafood, and produce packing operations.

The new splash-proof Ossid WPL1522 labeller has been designed for operations that require a rugged, versatile, and fast machine up to 120 packages per minute.

According to Ossid, which is a division of Pro Mach, the system has no exposed electronics and can be used in wet environments with high moisture content.

Ossid weigh-price labeller product manager Mike Alyounes said the unit allows processors to perform labelling and final packaging of products in the same high-moisture room where food processing and primary packaging take place.

It also features a stainless steel construction, IP67 rated connectors, motors, load cell and touch screen.

The Ossid WPL1522 can run various packages with repeatable label placement and top and bottom labels in a variety of sizes with different fonts and graphics up to 10.1cm x 12.7cm with standard tamp.

The unit can function as a check weigher, with the addition of a diverter / kickoff mechanism and print 21 different bar code symbologies including 2D. Its physical contact finger tamp system ensures accurate label placement on package.

The company says that the labeller will provide users a wide selection of print engines with up to 406mm per second of printing speed.

It connects to business systems and allows automatic order processing and tracking, remote user training, off-site maintenance and download of print requirements and prices, the company said.

The unit collects raw data automatically for every package to create real-time reports that can be delivered through email or PDA. Standard operator interface languages of the labeller include English and Spanish.
