US-based supplier of optical oxygen measurement systems OxySense has announced the addition of the new BottlePerm fixture to its range of permeation/oxygen transmission rate (OTR) accessories.

OTR is the amount of oxygen that moves through a container over a given period.

The fixture provides a platform to seal and flush all oxygen out of a bottle. It allows bottle, cork, cap and plastic cup manufacturers to determine the OTR of their containers.

The fixture is capable of flushing and sealing a large range of bottle neck sizes, irrespective of the thread size.

It can also be used for permeation/OTR analysis of containers such as yoghurt cups.

OxySense vice president and chief scientist Dr Devinder Saini said: "The use of this fixture, in conjunction with our OxySense 5250i laboratory instrument, provides our customers with a simple, economic method to obtain accurate and reliable permeation/OTR data, for packages ranging from bottles to cups, that they may not have had access to in the past."

OxySense supplies optical oxygen sensor systems for the packaging and processing industries.
