The Printed Cup Company has announced the addition of double wall printed cups to its manufacturing capabilities in its Lancashire, UK plant.

According to the company, the plant, which was opened in April 2012, manufactures single wall hot paper cups and sleeves for a range of customers.

The Printed Cup recently installed double wall machines to manufacture 8oz (250ml) and 12oz (300ml) paper cups.

Double wall cups are claimed to possess an extra layer wrapped around the cup, which offers additional insulation, gives protection to hands from the heat and makes the cup firmer to hold.

The new business development is expected to create new jobs within the company, besides benefiting the local area.

The Printed Cup managing director Mark Woodward said there was a requirement for smaller quantities in shorter lead times, even as the company had double wall cups available from its main Asian plant.

"Installing these machines will enable us to fulfil the demand from customers. Having manufacturing on site also enables us to accurately predict estimated delivery time, giving customers reassurance their printed paper cups will be delivered on time," Woodward said.

The double walled cups are available in sizes of 8oz, 12oz, 16oz and 20oz, and have been designed to fit to the needs and branding styles of customers, said the company.

The Printed Cup, the manufacturing division of The Paper Cup, expanded year on year notwithstanding the effect of the global recession.
