Switzerland-based liquid packaging solutions supplier Sidel has secured a turnkey contract from beverage producer Moha Soft Drinks to install another bottling line in Ethiopia.

The company will install the entire production line, including all auxiliary services comprising CO2 production, steam, a syrup room, a generator, a water treatment plant and piping at Moha's new plant in Mekele. The project will be implemented in mid 2014.

With a production capacity of 36,000 returnable glass bottles per hour, the new bottling line is expected to cater to the rising demand for carbonated soft drinks and water in Ethiopia.

Moha CEO Getachew Birbo said that the new bottling line project would get support from the newly reorganised office in Dubaio.

"We were looking forward for a very successful completion of this plant as it will come at a time when most of the production capacity of our plants will reach their peak," he said.

"We have successfully collaborated with them on several occasions, including the new PET line which was commissioned in 2012, so we are well aware of their capabilities."

Moha is engaged in the production of carbonated soft drinks in Ethiopia and is also the major supplier of Pepsi Cola products in the country.
