A new electric heat sealing machine has been unveiled by Sonoco Alloyd, a unit of consumer packaging company Sonoco.
The new Aergo 6E, which is NFPA79-compliant, is 100% electric and features various design improvements and operator-friendly enhancements.
The new machine is equipped with a standard heat seal station, eject station and two additional open load stations that can be used to accommodate up to two feeders for versatile package styles.
The company says the need for compressed air can be avoided, as all machine movements of the Aergo 6E are electrically controlled.
The sealing machine features a new heating plate mounting system. This can be inserted by the operators into a guided shelf, where it is locked into place.
The plate can later be removed, allowing for quicker changeovers and a safer operation.
Additional features such as an overload alert system, redundant safety switches, touch screen controls, an adjustable speed drive and a 36in load height are said to further improve operator convenience.
Sonoco Alloyd sales and marketing director Theresa Bronk said: "The new Aergo 6E highlights the robust quality our customers have come to expect with Sonoco Alloyd, and we plan to extend this 100% electric innovation across our line of Aergo sealing machinery."
The Aergo 6E, despite having an ample 12in x 16in seal area, has a small machine footprint and is suitable for small production floors or clean room facilities which lack compressed air hook up capabilities.
Package applications of the machine include face seal blister-to-card, card-to-card and trapped packaging (two cards and a blister).
Sonoco say the machine is suitable for a range of market segments, including retail, automotive, HBA, hardware, medical and electronics, among others.
