US-based Specialty Printing has turned its packaging and distribution business into a separate unit, which is expected to generate about $16m in revenue in its first year.

The new entity will operate independently under the name Specialty Packaging.

Specialty Packaging currently occupies a 50,000ft² distribution centre at Four Revay Road in East Windsor, Connecticut, US.

Specialty Packaging managing partner Christopher Orsini said Specialty Printing's merger with D McLeod will enable the company to have a broad and deep range of products to cater to the packaging needs of any business.

"Our financial strength, fleet of delivery vehicles, experienced staff and leadership team position us for continued growth for years to come," Orsini added.

Specialty Packaging provides package design, sourcing, distribution and logistics services; provides customers with packaging and shipping products, and serves primary markets including food packaging, general manufacturing and distribution centres.

The company also has an in-house packaging equipment department and offers new and used equipment to customers along with parts and service.

In addition to Orsini, the company's co-owners include Keith Streib of Ellington and Donald McLeod of Longmeadow.

William Bailey will be retained as the president and chief executive officer of Specialty Printing.

Founded in 1978, Specialty Printing provides solutions ranging from custom designed labels to help sell product, stock weigh scale labels, coupon labels, to pharmaceutical and prescription fulfillment labels, and gourmet recipe labels.
