Sunrich Naturals, a brand of global food company SunOpta, will introduce its SoL Sunflower Beverage line in new recyclable Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge cartons from Tetra Pak.

The new packaging will be introduced for all three flavors of SoL - Original, Unsweetened and Vanilla - as well as the company's line of soymilks.

The packaging, which offers a better environmental profile, has a new design as well as improved functionality for consumers of all ages.

According to Sunrich, the new Edge cartons have a sloping top, which makes the ridged cap easier to access, grasp and open, besides a wider opening that makes the product easier to pour.

Tetra Brik Aseptik Edge cartons are composed of 70% paper, a renewable resource from selectively harvested, re-grown trees, and have a low carbon footprint throughout their entire life cycle.

The cartons, which are primarily made of a renewable resource called paperboard, use less material compared to a can or bottle, which creates less waste.

Claimed to be space-efficient, the cartons can be shipped in bulk at a time, saving energy in transportation and resultantly using minimum amount of corrugate packaging.

SunOpta Grains and Foods Group Consumer Products sales and marketing vice president Tina Nelson said the packaging offers better preservation of the fresh taste and nutritional content of the product as well as extended shelf life.

"The new Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge packaging is ideal for SoL and all of our non-dairy beverages," Nelson said.

Sunrich Naturals will debut the new packaging for its SoL Sunflower Beverage line at Natural Products Industry Expo West, taking place between 7-10 March 2013 in Anaheim, California, US.
