Swedish food processing and packaging company Tetra Pak has provided its aseptic cartons with interactive digital technology to Appy Food & Drink.
The UK-based company will launch its new range of kids juice drinks, featuring Nickelodeon favourites such as Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the Tetra Pak cartons.
In order to use the technology, consumers can scan rear of the cartons with their smartphones to collect fun props, such as items of clothing worn by the Nickelodeon characters.
The Appy Drink App, which is available for free from Google Play and the Apple App Store, can be downloaded by the users, who in turn can store the props in a digital album on their phone.
The new range from Appy Food & Drink will be available in the Tetra Brik Aseptic 200ml with straw.
Appy Food & Drinks director and co-founder Bobby Patel said the company selected Tetra Pak cartons as they provide a large printable surface area, which is needed by the company to display the digital element of its drinks.
"We are thrilled to be bringing such a fun and innovative product to the UK market. Nickelodeon characters are loved by parents and children alike, and the interactive technology used on the carton will make drinking this juice an enjoyable activity for the whole family," Patel said.
Tetra Pak invests in research and monitors trends in a bid to provide packaging that meets consumer demands and needs.
