Petrochemical producer Total has launched a new packaging material targeted at the industrial film sector.

Petrochemical producer Total has launched a new packaging material targeted at the industrial film sector. The new Supertough 22ST05, a successor to Supertough 32ST05, belongs to the Lumicene family of metallocene polyethylene.

The new material provides better bubble stability and is stronger and 25% thinner, opening development perspectives for wide width films suited for agriculture, transportation and protection applications.

Total business manager Sonia De Greef said that boosting the product's properties can generate added value for customers and consumers right through the value chain.

"Customers are asking us for cost-innovative solutions to respond to current and future market needs, which is why we created Supertough," she said.

The latest film allows converters to combine one layer of Supertough with standard materials and even post-consumer waste in the other layers.

Total Lumicene-grade slate encompasses a range of low, medium and high densities.

Designed for specific customer end applications, the high-density slate offers the flexible packaging market processing ease, better film mechanical properties and a stiffness/ optics balance.

Total supplies all film materials including Lumicenes polyolefins of all densities.
