Tri-Star Packaging has unveiled a new tamper-resistant containers range manufactured from high clarity rPET.
The Tri-Pack with SureStrip containers feature the built-in SureStrip tamper-resistant system, created by Sabert, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of solutions for packaging, displaying, serving and storing fine food.
According to the UK-based packaging and disposables supplier, the SureStrip tamper-resistant mechanism is incorporated into the container lids, doing away with the need for cafés and other food-to-go business operators to use separate tamper-resistant sealing equipment.
As the leak-resistant containers are manufactured from rPET, they give customers a better view of the food.
Stackable for ease of storage, the containers are available in five sizes including 250ml, 375ml, 600ml, 750ml and 1,000ml, with one lid size to fit all bases, to minimise inventory requirements.
The SureStrip system, which is built into the lids, cuts down costly wastage caused by customers rejecting containers where the tamper resistant seal appears to have failed.
According to research conducted by Sabert in January 2012, 77% of consumers are expected to buy a tamper resistant product, but 60% would decide not to buy something when a tamper resistant seal has been damaged noticeably.
Tri-Star managing director Kevin Curran said tamper resistance is the better way to make sure customers feel secure when purchasing from a café or food-to-go shop.
"The tamper-resistant design is built right into the lid. Once you place your food into one of our Tri-Pack with SureStrip™ containers, you just snap on the lid to secure it," Curran said.
In order to open the package, consumers have to pull off the strip that is built into the edge of the lid and open it right up.
