The UK Can Makers has introduced CanCreator, the first free online 3D packaging design app for drinks cans.

The new CanCreator makes it easy for designers and brand owners to visualise and share creations in 3D in various sizes and finishes.

Templates for various can sizes are available to download for use in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, enabling designers to focus on their creations.

Created by designers Hayley Barrett, Isaac Sodipo and Rachel Gidlow, who work at design agencies DesignBridge and JKR Global, the app launch made it easy to upload designs of drinks cans for a 3D view from any angle.

According to Can Makers, the app also offers printing techniques such as heat sensitive thermochromic inks and tactile finishes.

"The new CanCreator makes it easy for designers and brand owners to visualise and share creations in 3D in various sizes and finishes."

CanCreator allows designers to save creations locally or to a secure online database to share or continue at a later date.

UK Can Makers' new online app also offers additional functions including screenshots that make sharing easy within a presentation or through email.

UK Can Makers chairman Geoff Courtney said the app would let designers see for themselves without any hassle.

"Initial feedback has been very positive and we hope everyone finds it a useful tool for creating impactful drinks can designs," Courtney said.
