Dutch lean ink management systems provider GSE Dispensing has unveiled a new version of its Colorsat Slim gravimetric dispenser with optimal dosage accuracy for packaging printing.
Designed to provide flexo and gravure ink colours for flexible packaging and carton-board printing, the Colorsat Slim also includes a sturdier weighing unit, which weighs dosages up to a maximum 25kg to an accuracy of 1g.
Following each dispense cycle a new wet and dry cleaning unit cleans the system, saving maintenance time
The label printer and barcode scanner have been integrated into the control console, and by adding quick couplers to the hoses that connect the ink barrels to the dispenser, risk of dripping is eliminated as a cleaner exchange of barrels is enabled.
It is possible to redesign the dispense heads for height adjustments to accommodate buckets of maximum 470mm
The dispenser accommodates a maximum of 20 base colours, and mixes and dispenses a four-colour 20kg recipe of water, UV or solvent-based ink within four minutes.
The company said that the device is powered by GSE’s ink management software (IMS), and can achieve volume requirements without performing complex, time-consuming manual calculations. It also calculates any excess ink left over from a print into new recipes.
GSE Dispensing managing director Anne Lourens said the accuracy and range of practical enhancements in the relaunched Colorsat Slim gives the printer added reassurance of achieving brand owners’ need for more colours.
"This provides the ideal solution for maintaining a lean operation without compromising quality, including in situations where flexibility and shorter production runs are the norm,’ Lourens added.
