US-based contract development and manufacturing firm Pharmatek has installed an automatic bottling line manufactured by CVC Technologies at its current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) facility in San Diego, California.

Scheduled to be fully-operational in November, the new bottling line includes a Cremer electronic channel counter, capper, induction sealer, re-torquer and high-speed wrap labeller.

The new line installation is part of Pharmatek’s ongoing investment to meet increasing customer demand for larger-scale productions.

According to the company, the bottling line is profitable for both small and large-volume clinical packaging projects, offering maximum flexibility.

Equipped with a CVC electronic conveyor system and redundant quality inspection stations, the line has been designed to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of clinical packaging and reduce costs. The company will be able to increase its overall production capacity with higher throughput and larger GMP manufacturing runs.

Pharmatek president Tim Scot said that the bottling line installation enhances the company’s offerings, supporting customer development programmes and larger-scale operations.

"Our investment in automated clinical packaging illustrates our commitment to our customers’ need for strategies that streamline supply chain management and speed supplies to the clinic," added Scot.

Pharmatek is engaged in providing services including compound selection, analytical development, preformulation testing, formulation development, GMP manufacturing, stability storage and testing, and cytotoxic and high-potency drug development.
