US packaging firm Pro Mach has acquired shrink wrapping and bundling machinery manufacturer Tekkra Systems.

Following the acquisition, Tekkra Systems will join Pro Mach’s new flexible packaging group, formed earlier in 2013. The group produces Matrix vertical form, fill and seal systems, Rennco vertical bagging systems, Toyo Jidoki pouch packaging systems, and Inever stickpack and sachet packaging systems.

Tekkra’s motion bundling and shrink wrapping systems offer packaging automation for global dairy, food, bakery, drinks, personal care and pharmaceutical companies.

The deal will allow Pro Mach to sell and support flexible packaging machinery solutions in the US, Canada, Europe, and Latin America.

Pro Mach Flexible Packaging Group senior vice president Troy Snader said Tekkra solutions complement the company’s existing offering, while allowing it to provide customers with a range of flexible packaging solutions.

"We are enthusiastic about adding the Tekkra line to our product portfolio," Snader added.

Tekkra Systems president Eric Vorm will join Pro Mach as vice president and general manager of Tekkra, and will report to Pro Mach end of line and flexible packaging group president Barry Heiser.

Vorm said: "As part of Pro Mach we will be able to provide our customers with a more integrated product line across their end-of-line and flexible packaging operations."
