Wacker Polymers, a producer of binders and polymer additives, has introduced a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers (VAE)-based dispersion that can be used for bonding various surfaces in the paper and packaging industry.

According to the company, the VINNAPAS EP 8010 features good heat resistance, a high setting speed and easy machine processing, and bonds paper and cardboard surfaces such as coated or painted paper, and polymeric film.

The dispersion is manufactured without the use of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO), said Wacker Polymers.

The VAE basis of the product can replace supplementary plasticisers, making it suitable for formulating adhesives for applications in which difficult-to-bond substrates have to be permanently joined.

The company claims that the equipment is easy to clean due to the quick re-emulsification of the VINNAPAS EP 8010.

The new dispersion belongs to the VINNAPAS Plus class for demanding product solutions and is applicable for formulating adhesives used in paper and packaging applications such as food-packaging bags and folding boxes.
