He will report to president and CEO Ralf Wunderlich.
Morin will take over from Sara Engber, who was named president for North America in May 2026.
Wunderlich said: “Thomas brings extensive executive leadership experience, deep packaging industry expertise and a proven track record of delivering profitable growth, organically and through acquisitions, across international markets. Fibre Packaging is a strategically important segment for Huhtamaki, and I am confident that Thomas is well positioned to build on its strong foundation and lead its continued success.
“I would also like to thank Sara Engber for successfully leading the Fibre Packaging segment. Her leadership and commitment have ensured very strong performance.”
Morin joins from TC Transcontinental, where he was CEO. Before that, he had led the company’s packaging division as president since 2019.
He has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the packaging sector.
His career has included roles across North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa at TC Transcontinental, Amcor, Alcan and Pechiney.
Morin said: “I am excited to join Huhtamaki and lead the Fibre Packaging segment at an important stage in its development. Fibre-based packaging plays an increasingly important role in meeting evolving customer and consumer needs, and Huhtamaki has built a strong position in this attractive market.
“I look forward to working with the talented team to strengthen the business further, drive profitable growth, and create value for our customers and shareholders.”
Huhtamaki operates in 35 countries, has 105 sites and around 17,400 employees.
The Finnish group reported net sales of €4bn ($4.56bn) in 2025.
In July last year, Huhtamaki introduced a new range of compostable ice-cream cups.
The cups are designed to be compostable both in home settings and industrially, as well as recyclable, providing a viable alternative for the ice-cream market.
