Italy-based bottled mineral water provider Acque Minerali d’Italia is set to expand its labelling line using Sacmi Group’s Opera technology.

For the expansion, the company selected the Opera 400 Modul 22T S1/E1, a machine that can achieve output rates of 32,000 bottles per hour.

The solution features a cold glue labelling module (CG 6/5/130) for applying labels on the cylindrical part of the glass bottle and a sleeve on the conical part.

It will also accommodate a second cold glue module (6/5/180) for applying pre-cut labels and a module for pressure sensitive self-adhesive labelling.

Acque Minerali d'Italie selected Opera due to its modular nature, according to Sacmi.

"The labeller can be fitted with a Sacmi CVS vision system, which can be used in the future to check logos are correctly positioned on bottles."

From the design stage, the machine is compatible with several labelling technologies and systems, allowing them to be managed via a single machine at ultra-high speeds.

Opera comes in a compact hard-wearing design, making it easier to install on existing lines, and is said to simplify maintenance tasks.

In 2016, Acque Minerali d'Italie  sold around billion litres of bottled drinks both in Italy and overseas markets.
