Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 14%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the packaging industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings drop by 32% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 14% in Q2 2023, with new job postings dropping by 9% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 12% share in Q2 2023, Management Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in packaging industry accounted for 40% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Tetra Laval International, International Paper, Berry Global Group, Sappi, and Pactiv Evergreen. Together they accounted for a combined share of 40% of all future of work-related new jobs in the packaging industry.

Tetra Laval International posted 418 future of work-related new jobs in Q2 2023, International Paper 296 jobs, Berry Global Group 96 jobs, Sappi 95 jobs, and Pactiv Evergreen 94 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 64.27% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the packaging industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 64.27% followed by India (5.19%) and Canada (3.51%). The share represented by the US was eight percentage points lower than the 72.30% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
