The new packaging aims to maintain the quality and shelf-stability of its products while reducing environmental impact.

Building on its existing range of 100% recyclable tea packaging and plastic-free sachets, DAVIDsTEA is taking significant steps towards waste reduction.

The company has introduced compostable shipping envelopes for non-breakable orders and is now focusing on its Garden to Cup collection for the rollout of the new packaging.

Customers from the US and Canada will start receiving fully compostable Teal 50g and 100g bags when ordering at davidstea.com in the coming months.

DAVIDsTEA chief executive officer and chief brand officer Sarah Segal said: “Since we opened our doors in 2008, we’ve been rooted in eco-friendly decisions.

“Tea is naturally compostable, and it’s our goal to leave nothing behind. That’s why it’s important to us to find innovative solutions and test new materials but without compromising on our high standards for quality and freshness – that’s where the new compostable packaging for our Garden to Cup teas comes in.

“We’re continuously working towards the development of regenerative packaging options and look forward to expanding it to more of our collection in the future.”

Headquartered in Montreal, DAVIDsTEA offers a speciality branded selection of proprietary loose-leaf teas, prepackaged teas, tea sachets, and tea-related accessories and gifts.

The company operates through its e-commerce platform and stores in the US and Canada.
