Italian confectionery products manufacturer Ferrero has selected Innovia Films’ shrink-tightening, biaxially orientated, polypropylene (BOPP) substrate Propafilm OS to overwrap the boxes of its Rondnoir chocolates.

Propafilm OS is a transparent, overwrapping film with balanced shrink-tightening properties, manufactured using Innovia Films’ bubble process.

In addition, the film offers barrier properties against water vapour, flavour and aroma with increased product shelf-life, the company claims.

Innovia Films BOPP product manager Steve Langstaff said the company was pleased to supply Propafilm to Ferrero.

"The outstanding sparkle and gloss of the film are important factors in the confectionery market, where shelf appeal and pack wrap tightness can influence purchasing decisions," Langstaff said.

BOPP-overwrapped chocolate Rondnoir is available in two box sizes (12s and 24s) throughout Europe.
