Asda’s George has committed to selling products made from recycled plastic bottles and clothing.

The move is part of Asda’s commitment to using polyester sourced from recycled materials by 2025.

George is planning to introduce George Home cushions and throws made from recycled plastic bottles as well as blouses and dresses made using fabric from recycled polyester clothing under its Spring/Summer 19 collection.

The fashion retailer has made a commitment to source only certified sustainable viscose and cotton by 2025.

The retailer will educate customers about the sustainability of their garments and assist in reducing the environmental impact through repurpose, reuse or recycling old clothing.

George has committed to further increase transparency around its supply chain by publishing a list of second-tier apparel factories, which are intended for dyeing, printing and finishing garments, on its website.
