La Colombe Coffee Roasters and Crown Beverage Packaging North America have collaborated to produce a pre-portioned single-use can, ‘The MiniVault’, which is said to extend the shelf life of coffee.
The companies previously partnered to launch Draft Latte, a coffee drink made using Crown’s InnoValve technology.
La Colombe CEO and co-founder Todd Carmichael said: “Our aim is to change the landscape of coffee through obsessive innovation.
“The MiniVault allows us to bring the best coffee to our home, all while removing the guesswork around measuring, grinding and freshness.”
Suitable for La Colombe’s Corsica coffee, The MiniVault features Crown’s 150ml slim style beverage can and its custom 360 End component.
The 360 End has a thin plate of flexible aluminium that acts as a food-safe protector and prevents coffee grounds from spilling after it has been removed.
Sold in eight-count boxes, the recyclable cans are wrapped in shrink sleeves with simple directions for brewing coffee.
An open window of the boxes allows consumers to preview the product inside.
The MiniVault will be available for sale in selected La Colombe retail locations across the US and on the company’s website.
Crown Beverage Packaging North America marketing director Ron Skotleski said: “The MiniVault is a testament to Crown’s commitment to push the envelope when it comes to bringing our customers’ ideas to life – and to market.”
