Swiss packaging firm SIG Combibloc has been selected by Canadian food manufacturer Lassonde to provide recloseable carton packs for its new Oasis NutriSolution Hydra+ product range.
Lassonde’s Hydra+ is a range of ready-to-drink, thickened beverages based on ‘Oasis’ fruit juices, water or milk.

Equipped with the combiSwift screw cap, SIG Combibloc’s aseptic carton packs are suitable for people who face difficulty while swallowing, a condition known as dysphagia.
Lassonde communications vice-president Stefano Bertolli said: "Our ‘Oasis NutriSolution’ product range is for people who have special requirements for their food in terms of formulation and handling.
"Especially for ‘Oasis NutriSolution Hydra+’ – our products that address the needs of people with difficulty swallowing – we were looking for a packaging solution that would safeguard the quality of these special-purpose products, and could fit conveniently into the everyday routine of users and nursing staff.

In 2013, Canton’s fondue broths were moved from metal cans to aseptic carton packs developed by SIG Combibloc.
SIG Combibloc noted that the aseptic cartons have recently become more popular among US and Canadian consumers.
Made of 75% wood, the aseptic packs are lightweight, easy to use and have a reduced environmental footprint compared to other food and beverage packaging.
