Global packaging solutions company MeadWestvaco (MWV) has started to expand the production capacity for its Melodie fragrance pump at its facility in Barcelona, Spain.
The company has also confirmed that the State Intellectual Property Office of China has approved its patent application for a fragrance dispensing system using fluoropolymer dip tubes, such as its NoC model, and that related patents have also been granted in Mexico and Russia.
According to the company, the Melodie pump with the NoC dip tube dispensing system allows brands to design a premium fragrance package with new features to the bottle.
MWV claims that the NoC is the first invisible dip tube for luxury fragrances and that it has been manufactured globally to support fragrance brands, using light-refractive technology. Recognition by the US, Chinese, Mexican, and Russian patent offices allows the company further expand its trade worldwide.
On 18 August last year, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia ruled in favour of MWV and found that its US patents for a fragrance dispensing system with NoC dip tube are valid and enforceable.
MWV operates in 30 countries, providing packaging solutions to brands in the healthcare and beauty sectors, as well as food, beverage, home, garden and tobacco industries.
