PMMI has announced that the North American packaging and processing industry has raised more than $325,000 to provide relief to the victims of the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
The total contribution would be delivered to the American Red Cross’ hurricane relief efforts.
PMMI collected nearly $100,000 from online and onsite donations from PACK EXPO Las Vegas and Healthcare Packaging EXPO 2017. The remaining proceeds were procured from PACK gives BACK event.
PMMI president and CEO Chuck Yuska said: “The generosity from the companies and families in packaging and processing is truly inspirational.
“Ours is an industry that has consistently risen to the occasion to help others in times of need.
“Our thoughts are with all those impacted by these deadly storms, including PMMI members, customers, and their families.”

By GlobalDataHe also added that the ticket sales of the seventh annual PACK gives BACK increased after the association announced that all proceeds from the event would be contributed to the hurricane relief fund.
PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, comprises more than 800 North American manufacturers and suppliers that supply machinery, equipment, materials and services to the packaging and processing industry.
It works with multiple industries to facilitate the connection between consumer goods companies and manufacturing solutions by organising trade shows such as PACK EXPO.
