Protective packaging specialist Pregis has opened a new manufacturing facility in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The new facility increases the company’s production capacity to cater to protective packaging demand across various industries, including automotive, consumer electronics, agriculture, aerospace and fulfillment.

The facility with advanced equipment will manufacture Astro-Foam polyethylene sheet foam and PolyPlank closed-cell polyethylene plank foam.

“Pregis is in a unique position to supply the quality and inventory required to support these businesses.”

Pregis president and CEO Kevin Baudhuin said: “Mexico is experiencing significant growth in the manufacturing and fulfillment sectors.

“As a North American leader in providing protective packaging solutions, Pregis is in a unique position to supply the quality and inventory required to support these businesses.

“The facility’s location also makes it ideally suited to supplement supply needs in the southern United States.”

Pregis claims that the facility employs manufacturing best practices to ensure quality standards are met and provides resources to help solve packaging needs through a dedicated sales and technical support team.

Mexican businesses can improve production efficiencies and reduce floor space needed to store protective packaging inventories by using Pregis’ protective packaging equipment systems.

Last year, the company received ISO 9001: 2008 certification for its IntelliPack business unit, making it the only foam-in-place (FIP) equipment manufacturer in the US to be currently ISO-certified.

IntelliPack FIP systems’ intuitive equipment design and responsive controls simplify the packaging process, reduce cost and increase productivity.
