Switzerland-based carton packaging and filling machine producer SIG Combibloc is set to power its manufacturing facilities with electricity produced from natural sources, including wind, sun, hydropower, biomass or biogas.
Aimed at reducing CO² emissions, promote the use of renewable resources, and counter climate change, the initiative will see all SIG Combibloc sites in Europe, South America, China and Asia-Pacific region receive green electricity from this month onwards.

SIG Combibloc energy procurement global category manager Arnold Schuhwerk said: “Obtaining source-identified green electricity in Asia is a huge achievement, as these capacities are very scarce and up to now have been acquired almost exclusively by large multinationals.
“We’re delighted to have reached this goal so quickly.”
In Europe and America, the company is planning to procure renewable electricity from the free market.
