US-based personal care company Tom’s of Maine has launched its Natural Strength deodorants in a new 100% plastic-free packaging.

The aluminium-free formula deodorants contain naturally sourced and naturally derived ingredients, according to the company.

The company also announced the addition of a Sensitive offering made with hemp seed oil and natural fragrances. The new offering will be exclusively available at Target.

According to Tom’s of Maine, antiperspirants and deodorants sold in the US contribute more than 28,000t of plastic packaging per annum and less than 20% of this volume is recycled.

The company expects that the transition to new paper packaging will allow it lower plastic waste by more than 60t this year.

Last year, the company introduced a recyclable toothpaste tube. It aims to move all its full-size toothpaste products to the recyclable tube by the end of this year.

Additionally, it planned to transition its natural bar soaps to a 100% recyclable paper packaging this year.
