American Packaging Corporation (APC) has announced new investments at its facility in Columbus, Wisconsin, introducing gravure cylinder engraving technology to its operations.

This addition allows the company to handle high-definition (HD) certified engravings internally and support its rotogravure packaging services.

By establishing in-house engraving, APC now manages all aspects of the process, which includes technology implementation and process control, with reduced lead times.

The company said that its in-house, fully integrated engraving capability offers brand owners the benefits of APC’s premium HPE Roto gravure print quality and responsive service. 

APC Rotogravure Printing and Laminating Centers of Excellence operations director Mark Krueger said: "Very few flexible packaging companies have in-house cylinder engraving coupled with the personnel expertise required to produce precision results.

"By working with both internal and external engraving partners, APC leverages the best of both worlds to deliver exceptional value and ensure business continuity for our customers. I am proud of APC's rotogravure team and the strategic benefits they provide every day."

Meanwhile, last year, APC received approval for an expansion at its location in Story City, Iowa.

This project involves increasing pouch production capacity and is expected to be completed by September 2026.

At that time, APC said it continues to invest in facilities and equipment, aiming to differentiate itself with a broad portfolio of pouches, bags, and other flexible packaging technologies.

Founded in 1902, APC operates six Centers of Excellence across the US and employs around 1,300 people.
