Clean Cult has introduced its sustainable packaging solutions at US-based supermarket chain Whole Foods Market, marking a step in reducing plastic waste in retail.

This collaboration reflects both companies' commitment to sustainable practices in home cleaning.

The paper-based refill cartons and aluminium bottles are now available across four regions of Whole Foods Market.

Specifically, the initial rollout will take place in the Northeast, Rocky Mountain, South Pacific, and Northern California regions.

Shoppers in these areas will find a selection of Clean Cult's products, including laundry sheets, liquid laundry detergent cartons, and dish soaps, available in both aluminium bottles and paper-based refill cartons.

The launch at Whole Foods Market follows Clean Cult's earlier expansions into Costco and Target, further solidifying its position in low-waste home-care solutions.

Clean Cult stated that its entry into the market aims to offer consumers certified alternatives to conventional plastic-packaged cleaning products.

Clean Cult's products are said to have undergone a stringent vetting process to meet the high standards set by Whole Foods Market, which includes requirements for transparency, efficacy, and biodegradability, according to the company.

The brand has achieved Green Seal Certification, ensuring that its cleaning products are both effective and sustainable.

Clean Cult CEO and co-founder Ryan Lupberger said: “We built Clean Cult to prove that responsible design and high performance can go hand in hand.

“Teaming up with Whole Foods Market helps bring that mission to more homes and makes plastic reduction an everyday habit without sacrifice.”

Whole Foods Market has implemented various environmentally friendly policies, including a ban on plastic checkout bags in 2008 and the elimination of plastic straws in 2019.

Whole Foods Market senior category merchant Ruby Rios said: "I'm especially excited to launch Clean Cult because it brings something new to the household essentials aisle - convenient, low-waste design paired with clean, effective formulas.

“It's the kind of packaging innovation and ingredient integrity we're proud to put on our shelves.”
