Paranova Print and Packaging has opened its upgraded manufacturing base in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, England, following a £5m($6.7m) redevelopment of the site.

The work covered its dual production operation in the town and added 2,000m2 of manufacturing space, taking total capacity to three times its previous level.

Paranova produces more than 700 million recyclable food-to-go packs each year across three board manufacturing sites.

With the investment, the St Neots plant is now said to be the largest fibre-based food-to-go packaging facility in Europe.

A new custom-built Bobst press has been installed as part of the project, with specifications for lined board food-to-go products.

The equipment will be used for a range of formats including sandwich skillets, wrap boxes, trays and cartons.

Paranova is preparing the next version of its RecyclaLite product, which is intended to help customers cut EPR exposure and move towards fibre-based food-to-go packaging with lower environmental impact.

Paranova Print and Packaging CEO Jo Ormrod said: “This investment marks a defining moment for Paranova and reinforces our ambition to lead the future of sustainable food-to-go packaging.

“By developing the UK’s new home of food-to-go packaging, we have built a manufacturing operation designed around innovation, quality and sustainability – enabling us to better support our customers with scalable fibre-based solutions that meet both consumer expectations and evolving legislation.”
