Specialized Packaging Group (SPG) has purchased DFW Crating & Packaging, a Dallas-Fort Worth-based company that develops custom crates and protective packaging.

The deal's financial terms remain undisclosed.

The deal gives SPG a foothold in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and adds to its range of tailored protective packaging services.

According to SPG, DFW Crating & Packaging also adds “complementary” know-how, established client ties and an existing workforce to SPG’s operations in North America.

SPG CEO Paul Budsworth said: “DFW Crating & Packaging is an excellent strategic fit for SPG. The company has built a strong reputation on quality and customer service, and its crating capabilities complement our existing portfolio, including server rack crating.

“We are excited to welcome the DFW team to SPG and work together to create new opportunities for our employees while delivering even greater value to customers.”

DFW Crating & Packaging will keep trading under its current name and continue to operate from its facility in Grand Prairie.

SPG noted that the business will also be able to benefit from its wider operational network, resources and packaging functions.

In March, SPG opened a new manufacturing site in Austin, aiming to better support customers in the southern and mid-south regions of the  US.

The facility will specialise in the manufacture of corrugated and foam packaging, with an initial focus on supplying the automotive and technology sectors.
