TCL pledges to make its packaging more sustainable

The company's new air conditioner, refrigerator, and washing machine models come equipped with energy-saving features.

Consumer electronics brand TCL has its unveiled plans to increase the use of sustainable packaging for its products, as part of its efforts to attain carbon neutrality.

The company has released its ‘Carbon Neutrality White Paper’, which outlined action plans for a greener economy, at the 2023 TCL Global Ecosystem Partner Conference.

TCL, which shipped 23.78 million of its branded smart TVs across the world last year, now intends to use eco-conscious materials across all aspects of its product design.

It aims to encourage the use of soybean ink, recyclable paper, and paper packaging materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, as well as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene-recyclable plastics for its products.

Furthermore, the company has released its new air conditioner, refrigerator, and washing machine models with more environmentally friendly features.

TCLGreen, a global initiative by TCL, strives to promote the importance of sustainable practices within local and international communities.

Other important commitments in the report include the formation of a TCL climate change working group and carbon neutral planning chart to provide clear roles and responsibilities and establish accountability across the business.

The company aims to attain carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality in its operations by 2050.

To attain these goals, the company will implement a three-step plan, including carbon investigation, carbon peaking, and finally carbon neutrality.
