UPM is positioning the portfolio as part of its Premium Performance range, with materials engineered for demanding conditions.

UPM Adhesive Materials has revealed a curated sample folder, presenting five label materials developed for wine and spirits packaging.

The collection is being distributed across Europe, North America, South America and the Asia Pacific region.

Each material in the folder is accompanied by a printed sample to demonstrate performance, with intricate artwork and heavy embellishment.

Unprinted sheets with removable labels are also included to provide technical specifications and enable printers to assess adhesion and on‑bottle application.

UPM positions the portfolio as part of its Premium Performance range, noting the materials have been engineered for demanding conditions, including submersion in ice buckets, and offering attributes such as high wet opacity, strong adhesion and resistance to moisture.

The Finnish company also highlighted mechanical properties suited to high‑speed converting and print finishing.

UPM worked with several partners to create the printed examples.

Design agencies produced five label concepts tied to regionally significant alcoholic beverages. Surface finish company KURZ and stamping toolmaker H+M supplied hot‑stamping transfer materials and tooling, while Grafical handled printing.

Collaborations with glass packaging and closure producers Verallia and Vinolok have also been referenced.

The folder helps printers to present premium label options to brands seeking to differentiate products through packaging design and materials, at a time when the wine and spirits sector is increasingly focused on premiumisation.

UPM Global Marketing senior manager Lisbeth Saarinen stated: “Printers working with wine and spirits brands face high expectations for both visual impact and technical reliability.

“Our premium label materials are designed to meet these demands, ensuring smooth converting and consistent performance throughout the product lifecycle.”

In September 2025, UPM announced that its releasable general-purpose RW85C adhesive has been certified by RecyClass. The certification highlights the adhesive’s compatibility with recycling processes for both high-density polyethylene containers and polyethylene terephthalate bottles.
