Toyo Ink India, a subsidiary of the Japan-based artience group, has outlined plans to expand liquid ink manufacturing capacity at its Gujarat facility. 

The upgraded operations are due to begin in 2028.

The expansion is projected to lift the plant’s liquid ink output to one-and-a-half times its current level.

The decision is aimed at addressing increasing demand from India’s packaging industry. 

The expansion of the country’s middle-class population is expected to underpin further expansion of the packaging sector, in turn supporting higher consumption of liquid packaging inks. 

Toyo Ink India entered the liquid ink business in 2011 through imports.

It moved into domestic manufacturing in 2013 with the commissioning of a plant in Delhi, before adding the Gujarat facility in 2021.
