Canon acquired UK-based packaging converting equipment manufacturer Edale in 2022.

The refreshed portfolio consists of the Edale LabelLine FL4e and LabelLine FL4p for label production, alongside the Edale CartonLine FL6p and CartonLine FL7p for folding carton applications.

As part of the update, Edale has brought in two performance designations across the range.

The Essential, denoted by “e”, is aimed at routine production needs, while the Precision, indicated by “p”, is targeted at higher output requirements and incorporates more sophisticated automation features.

In the label segment, the LabelLine FL4e is a 430mm narrow-web press intended for short and medium production runs.

The LabelLine FL4p accommodates web widths from 430mm to 570mm and adds advanced registration capabilities, options for inline embellishment and modular upgrade paths.

On the folding carton side, the CartonLine FL6p is a 600–650mm single-pass press that combines printing, varnishing, embellishment, die-cutting and stripping within one inline process.

The larger CartonLine FL7p is designed for web widths between 760mm and 1,000mm and is aimed at bigger format or higher-volume carton work, with support for premium embellishment and modular expansion.

Edale’s established core technologies are retained across the redesigned portfolio.

CartonLine presses can also be set up to handle both carton and label applications, enabling a single system to cover multiple types of production.

Edale managing director Lachlan Buirds stated: “This is about clarity and capability. With LabelLine FL4e and FL4p, and CartonLine FL6p and FL7p, customers can quickly identify the press that fits their reality today; our Essential range for dependable day-to-day production, or Precision, for when they’re scaling into premium applications, higher volumes and added automation.”
