The Indian packaging films manufacturer has rolled out a mix of BOPP, CPP and BOPET films aimed at meeting the rising demand food-safe packaging.

Its new range features a high heat-resistant transparent TR (Thermal Resistant)-BOPP film, alongside a suite of barrier films and lidding solutions.

The TR-BOPP film can withstand temperatures of up to 185°C and promises to provide uniform linear tear performance.

It is positioned as an alternative to conventional PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) print layers commonly used in pet food packaging.

The expanded portfolio includes anti-fog transparent BOPET lidding films and COPET-coated BOPET films designed to enhance adhesion and machinability.

It also includes coated metallised BOPET films developed to improve oxygen and moisture barrier properties for both dry and wet pet food applications.

Furthermore, the launch includes ultra-high barrier metallised BOPP films intended to replace aluminium foil, allowing simpler packaging structures while maintaining protection against moisture and oxygen for dry pet food and treats.

Cosmo First group CEO Pankaj Poddar said: “The pet food category is evolving rapidly, and packaging must evolve with it. With this expansion, we are leveraging our deep specialty films expertise and applying critical insights gained from building Zigly, our fast-growing pet care business.

“Our direct understanding of pet parent consumer behaviour and product requirements enables us to engineer packaging films that deliver superior safety, barrier performance, convenience, and brand differentiation.”

In August this year, Cosmo Films USA, a subsidiary of Indian speciality film manufacturer Cosmo First, expanded its operations in North America through the installation of a 120in-wide high-speed slitter rewinder at its Carol Stream Warehouse in Chicago, US.

This addition is intended to address the increasing demand for flexible packaging solutions in the region.
