INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has introduced a new polypropylene grade, rPP1025C, designed to incorporate 70% recycled material.
The product is aimed at use in contact-sensitive packaging for cosmetics, providing a solution for brands seeking higher recycled content without having to make changes to their packaging standards or performance requirements.

The rPP1025C grade is produced by blending mechanically recycled plastics with specially developed “booster” polymers.
The resulting material is intended to match the performance of conventional polypropylene in terms of strength, appearance and manufacturing efficiency, while offering a reduced carbon footprint, noted the company.
INEOS reports a 35% reduction compared to virgin materials.
This polypropylene is natural in colour and suitable for thin-walled injection moulding, as well as fibre extrusion processes.

By GlobalDataTypical applications are expected to include packaging items such as screw caps, jars and lids, mascara tubes and caps, deodorant applicators, and various dispensing components.
Key technical features highlighted by the company include rigidity for shape retention, high heat resistance for maintaining shelf life and product stability, scratch resistance and the capacity to take on a wide range of colours without loss of quality.
The product has received compliance confirmation through an FDA No Objection Letter (NOL) and certification from RecyClass as post-consumer recyclate under ISO 14021 environmental labelling standards.
rPP1025C is the second Recycl-IN hybrid grade that INEOS has developed specifically for the cosmetics packaging market, following an earlier launch of rPP2030C.
The broader Recycl-IN portfolio includes ready-made polyolefin compounds suitable for use in other sectors such as automotive, construction, drainage, sports venues, storage solutions and textiles.
In a separate development, INEOS announced last month a £150m ($205m) investment at its facility in Grangemouth, UK, to upgrade production units, enhance energy efficiency, and cut emissions.
