Amcor has launched an updated 1kg UniPak pot for dairy products that uses less material than earlier versions while maintaining the required performance and compatibility for production lines.
The new pot and lid together weigh 31.6g, which Amcor reports is lighter than its previous container of the same size.

The company estimates that this reduced weight could result in up to a 9% carbon emission reduction, based on projected manufacturing volumes.
Constructed entirely from polypropylene, the container is described as “recycle-ready,” assuming the appropriate recycling facilities exist in the market.
The lid is compression-moulded for strength and is designed to remain attached even when squeezed.
Improvements to the tamper-evidence feature are intended to provide greater security for consumers.
The UniPak range supports various branding options such as in-mould labelling and is available in multiple shapes and sizes.
Lids with shared diameters across different formats are intended to simplify inventory and supply logistics.
The design also aims to optimise pallet use and includes a collar feature that helps protect the lid and stabilise the pots during transport.
Amcor global rigids packaging solutions’ containers and reusables product line director Katrina Burrett said: “The dairy sector is continuing to grow with, in particular, a strong showing in larger yoghurt formats.
“For dairy packaging, the 1kg size is especially popular, and our new UniPak has been designed to enable brand owners to maximise opportunities with a high-performance solution that also supports their sustainability objectives.
“This new pack demonstrates that meaningful lightweighting doesn’t have to come at the expense of strength or performance – and that’s exactly what our customers are asking for.”
Amcor recently announced plans to develop a new airless dispensing system for beauty and personal care products.
The Magic One dispenser will offer different output levels from 0.3ml to 1ml and be available in several sizes and formats.
