Emerald Ecovations has released SUSTAIN Tree-Free CPG Board, a packaging material developed for use in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical and dry food products.
The board is produced from a mix of bagasse, a fibre derived from sugarcane residue, and FSC-certified fibres.

The material is intended to provide the print quality and structural properties typically associated with standard paperboard while avoiding the use of virgin trees.
SUSTAIN is offered in uncoated and coated-one-side (C1S) versions with 85 brightness.
Emerald Ecovations said this provides cartons, sleeves and rigid packaging with a bright print surface.
The company noted that the product has no added PFAS and comes in a range of weights for different packaging uses.
The initial launch is limited, with first-run production to be distributed on a first-come basis.
Emerald Ecovations CEO Ralph Bianculli said: “Today’s consumer wants packaging that lines up with their health and wellness objectives. For too many years, consumer packaging has endured conflicting and confusing messaging around sustainability. With the launch of Sustain, brands can highlight their commitment to sustainability and the growing demand in the health and wellness movement.
“Packaging has become a place where brands show what they stand for. The companies that get out front on this – Tree-Free, no PFAS added, and made to perform – are the ones customers are going to trust. This board lets them lead instead of catching up.”
