Paranova Print and Packaging and Dovecote Park have worked together on a new packaging format for Aldi’s Specially Selected British Wagyu range.
Paranova noted that the work aimed to produce packs that match the premium positioning of the meat products while also meeting retail handling requirements.

The packaging company used reverse kraft board, citing its natural look and its use in premium food packaging.
Paranova said a foil accent was applied in a measured way so the packs would sit within Aldi’s Specially Selected range and signal the intended product tier.
The packs contain integrated radio frequency (RF) security elements built into the structure.
Paranova said the in-line tagging is intended to provide protection through the supply chain without affecting the overall appearance of the packaging while also supporting operational efficiency.
According to the company, the packaging is designed to help maintain product integrity and present a finished appearance on the shelf.
In May, Paranova opened an upgraded manufacturing site in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, after a £5m ($6.7m) redevelopment.
The project covered its two production operations in the town and added 2,000m² of manufacturing space, increasing overall capacity to three times the previous level.
Paranova produces more than 700 million recyclable food-to-go packs annually across three board manufacturing sites.
With the investment, the St Neots plant is said to be the largest fibre-based food-to-go packaging plant in Europe.
